He's sitting on one of the lower speakers off to the side of the open-air stage, not bothered much by the frantic activity of the road crew scrambling to fix a broken bolt in the staircase. It's nice to just sit and not be 'on' or on the phone with yet another problem somewhere. He nudges AJ, who's sitting beside him but looking out to the vacant seating while he drags on a cigarette.
"Do you love me like that?" He nudges his head to the center of the stage where Baylee sits atop the piano, a loving hand from each of his parents on his knees. Brian has been gazing at his wife as she speaks and laughs. And at that very moment, Brian raises his hand and strokes Leighanne's cheek.
AJ spends a few moments watching as Leighanne turns her head and presses a tiny kiss to Brian's palm. He grins at Howie, spreads his legs a little wider so that the side of his knee is pressing against the side of Howie's knee.
"More."
Howie looks back to AJ, a smile curving his lips, and then he nods.
"Good."
